Follow our simple care instructions to help preserve their softness for years to come.

Sheets and Pillowcase Product Information:

They are thermoregulating, odour and dust mite resistant, providing you with the most luxurious, comfortable night’s sleep. Learn more about the benefits of bamboo fibre here.

Washing your bamboo sheets and pillowcases:

We advise washing bamboo sheets every 7 to 10 days, especially in the warmer months. For longevity, it’s critical to maintain clean, fresh sheets to prevent dirt and bacteria growth. In fact, the more you wash your bamboo sheets, the softer the fibre becomes.

We also recommend washing your sheets and pillowcases before their first use. Our bamboo products are made slightly larger, allowing for shrinkage on the first wash and dry. Although bamboo sheets are renowned for being silky, they can also feel stiff straight out of the packaging. Your bamboo sheets will be as soft and breathable as possible from the first time you sleep in them if you give them a pre-use wash.

Washing instructions-

  • Wash your sheets before the first use.
  • Wash separately in cold water, at 30 degrees maximum, on a gentle cycle. Continuous hot water washing has the potential to shrink bamboo fibres.
  • Avoid washing your sheets and pillowcases with other items, as encountering zippers, buckles and rough fabrics, such as denim, can cause unwanted pilling and abrasion.
  • Bamboo is a delicate fibre; therefore, it is recommended to use a delicate or mild detergent.
  • Please do not use bleach, harsh detergents or fabric softeners, as they can damage the natural bamboo fibre and can discolour or mark your sheets. Using fabric softeners is unnecessary as your sheets are already extra soft. These products are far too harsh for bamboo fibre and will leave holes, eventually ruin your sheets.
  • We recommend line drying to extend the life of the bamboo fibres, colours and elasticity. If you use the dryer, select a low heat, low tumble setting and do not over-dry. As too much heat can damage the natural bamboo fibre. Excessive use of the dryer will lead to shrinkage and damage to the natural bamboo fibre.
  • When your sheets are dry, drape them flat on the bed to avoid wrinkles.
  • If you choose to iron your sheets use a low heat setting.

Removing stains-

Products rich in oils may leave significant marks on your bamboo bedding. In some circumstances, face products and moisturisers will lead to stains.
When your bamboo sheets get stained, it’s crucial to remember that bleach should never be used. As bleach will chew a hole in the delicate bamboo sheets.

Wash your sheets and pillowcases as soon as you discover the stain. We recommend using an eco-friendly pre-soak or enzyme-based stain remover on the afflicted areas to effectively remove stains from your bamboo sheets. A mixture of 1 part white vinegar and four parts water can also help to remove marks from your sheets without damaging the delicate bamboo fibre. Your bamboo sheets will remain brilliant and bright as long as the products used are kind and environmentally responsible to prevent damage to the bamboo fibres.

Pilling-

Some pilling is normal for natural fibres such as Bamboo and is not a manufacturing fault. Pilling is caused by excess heat, such as washing or drying in a hot setting. It can also be caused by abrasion from continual friction or rubbing from body stubble, long nails, washing with other stiff fabrics or harsh chemicals. If you move a lot in your sleep (toss and turn), we recommend using a Bamboo Haus Mattress Topper under the sheets to reduce the friction of them rubbing on the mattress.

A quick way to increase the lifespan of your mattress topper is to keep it clean. Here we will cover the effective washing methods for your Bamboo Haus Mattress Topper. We’ll also discuss preventative steps you may take to maintain the cleanliness, freshness, and odour-freeness of your mattress topper.

Mattress Topper Product Information:

The typical materials used to make mattress toppers include memory foam and organic textiles like Cotton or Bamboo as a cover for the memory foam.

The Bamboo Haus Mattress Topper is made from charcoal-infused memory foam. The added charcoal helps to eliminate odours and regulate your body temperature. A mesh knit (polyester) lining is attached to the memory foam filling. This lining cannot be removed and helps to protect the memory foam from wear and tear. Our mattress toppers are then covered in a two-sided bamboo cover that can be easily removed for washing.

Side one is made from an Ice Fibre Fabric, constructed from cutting-edge textile manufacturing in a revolutionary weave, making the fabric cool to the touch and maximising airflow properties.

Side two is made from a Bamboo Fibre Fabric (40%), which has the unique properties of Bamboo: Antibacterial, low irritant, low allergy, and low odour, is breathable to regulate airflow and is moisture-wicking, drawing moisture away from the skin.

We recommend allowing 24 hours for the mattress topper to air before you use it. This will give the memory foam plenty of time to breathe and expand to its full size.

Please note the elastic on our mattress toppers is not designed to be pulled and secured under your mattress. If you have a mattress higher than 20cm, we recommend you secure your topper to the bed by placing the straps around the corner of the mattress, as pictured.

How to wash your Mattress Topper:

Washing the Memory Foam-

It is not recommended to wash your mattress topper as this could compromise the structure of the memory foam. Memory foam is a delicate material; washing it could cause it to lose shape and become less supportive. If you ever need to clean your mattress topper, only spot-clean the memory foam liner with mild detergent and warm water. Avoid scrubbing the foam too vigorously, and allow the topper to dry completely before using it again. Leaving your topper wet can lead to mildew and mould, damaging the memory foam. Occasional airing and exposure to sunlight are recommended and will also prolong the lifespan of your topper.

Washing the Cover-

The bamboo cover can be removed and machine-washed. We recommend washing in cold water on a gentle cycle to maintain the bamboo fibre. Do not use bleach, harsh detergents or fabric softeners, as these products are far too severe for bamboo fibres and will leave holes or completely ruin the product. Fabric softeners will also leave a film on the fabric and can even cause discolouration. Using a gentle and eco-friendly detergent is essential to ensure that you preserve the environment and the quality of your mattress topper. Furthermore, it’s important to wash with like colours together to avoid any colour bleeding and maintain your cover’s vibrancy.

Bamboo is known for its luxurious feel and delicate fibres. To maintain elasticity and softness, it’s best to air dry your bamboo cover once washed. However, if you need to machine dry your cover, you can do so in a low-heat setting. It’s essential to remove it from the dryer as soon as the cycle is finished, as this will help to preserve the fabric. With the proper care, your bamboo topper will stay looking and feeling great for years to come.

Maintaining your Mattress Topper:

Making the time to freshen up your mattress topper is worth it! By routinely cleaning it with a vacuum cleaner, you can help to extend its life and protect it against mould, dust mites, and other allergens. Not only will this make your topper look and feel fresh, but it will also help ensure that you sleep in a clean and hygienic environment. It’s a simple task that takes little time and will be worth it in the long run.

Leaving your mattress topper in the sun is a natural and eco-friendly way to clean it, but it can also help rid your bed of dust mites and bacteria. Make sure to keep your mattress topper in direct sunlight for at least 6 hours and flip it over halfway through the process to ensure the whole mattress topper is exposed to the sun. Doing this will leave your mattress topper feeling fresh and clean, and you can sleep better knowing it’s been naturally disinfected.

If your having an issue keeping your topper smelling fresh, baking soda is a great way to absorb odours and help your mattress topper smell new. To get the best results, sprinkle the baking soda generously over the affected area and leave it for a few minutes before vacuuming it. This will help to ensure that all odours are absorbed, and all residual odours are removed.
